Basin Plan Inquiry

How important is a healthy river to you and your community?
Did you know that there is an Inquiry into the Murray-Darling Basin Plan happening right now? Cross-bench Senators have launched an inquiry into the ‘positive and negative’ impacts of the Plan. It follows angry protests from farmers, who claim that returning water to the environment is destroying rural communities. If you’re a Traditional Owner in the Basin, let the politicians know how you want the Basin Plan to deliver for you, your Country and community. MLDRIN supports strong water recovery targets that return water to our rivers and waterways, restoring the health of Country. We also continue to progress First Nations’ claim for an equitable allocation of water: cultural flows.

Submissions to the Inquiry close on the 25th September. You can view the terms of reference and more information about the inquiry here.

You can view MLDRIN’s submission to the Select Committee here. Please feel free to use this to develop your own submission.
